They say it happens to most bloggers sooner or later: their site gets hacked. As happened here.
My apologies to you if you visited in the past week and found yourself looking at a pointless, chickenshit message slapped up by some gnat from a third-world pesthole.
It took a few days to discover this. A few more to get things sorted out and rebuilt from scratch. I was determined to do as much as possible myself, and make it a (painful) learning experience, to gain a better understanding of what goes on under the hood here.
Thanks to my friend, colleague, and IT czar Dave Wilson for early counsel.
Thanks to Tanmay H., of HostICan, for technical support.
And thanks to Loki, the new office-manager-in-training, for keeping me alternately amused and on task whenever hunting down some rope for a noose started looking better than editing a database one more time.
New stuff coming in another day or two.

Ack! That totally rots! Happened to me too… I ended up dong a whole site re-do which took months longer then intended… Looking forward to seeing what is next here!
I stopped by to let you know that I shared one of your articles from Storytellers Unplugged in my “Speaking of Gratitude” wrap up this week. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks, Kathy. ‘Rots’ … I love that, as an alternative to the more usual sucks, bites, whatevers. So. Rots. I’m a convert.
And yeah. Rot it did. But I learned a lot from the experience, and — always one to try to look for the upside in something like this — I’ve been inspired to totally redo my normal author site with a Wordpress foundation. It’ll be so much easier to maintain and update.
Many thanks, too, for including the gratitude post in your round-up. Honored!
